I've not said it works well or otherwise, nor do I have automatic prejudice against any system the US might contemplate. No straw men at this end!

Final attempt to convert the demagoguery to rational debate:

Current estimates are that NZ doctors now out-earn their US counterparts in equivalent situations. This is despite NZ spending $1000s less per capita on healthcare and providing universal coverage, including non-accident cover for mostly Pacific non-citizens who are supposed to but in real life are unable to pay the bill, and accident cover for anybody in NZ.

So where is the rest of the US spending going? Answer that and you've got most of the explanation for paralysis of healthcare reform in the US. (Hint: yes, it involves vested interest and $billions flowing into the already bulging pockets of the 1%).
