while trying to prune current data from obvious errors and guessing at probabilities I am looking at stats in southern hemisphere to contrast things happening there with stats here. Idea is a variant of your "might be good to get infected now, as medical teams are not overwhelmed yet", like "Perhaps getting infected in summer will result in less dire results than in winter". Flu typically occurs in season due to a) longer survival of virus in cold weather b) immune system more taxed than in summer, and while summer Flu exists, I think course is often less severe if infected.
