Hi Ken,
In this case, I want the *value* of the field to print every time - I just want the background of the value to change depending upon the value in the field. For example, if the value is negative, I want to have a red background; if it is zero or positive, I want it to have a white background.
I was trying to do this via the "Dynamics" tab by specifying a condition there to dynamically change the background - but reading the help file further, I have a feeling that this is only evaluated once for the overall report, not on every detail line in the report. Can someone confirm this? And if this is so, is there a way to maybe force it to be re-evaluated for each detail row?
Thanks,
Albert

I know I can do this with a shaded box that overlays the field and put my condition in the Print When field. But this is tedious work to overlay these boxes on a report. It seems as though the Dynamics tab on a field should work but so far have not got the right set of combinations for it to work.
