>>I agree. Hell, many of the "most outraged" need a few lessons in history, They don't know what a real riot looks like.

Well they do, but there was a chance of political capital from amplifying, exaggerating and blaming. I don't think it worked out very well, though.

Reviewing the footage shown to the Senate, I see lots of bluster but only an armed handful at each confrontation, where "armed" means a baseball bat, a shield used to batter, a thrown fire extinguisher, bear repellant and so forth. Also one episode with a larger group wielding poles to break and enter. Not good- but no firearms or bladed weapons. The only firearms I saw were presented by authorities and the only person shot, was a young unarmed protestor.

Regarding the 5 deaths attributed to armed insurrection: depending who you listen to, all 5 were Trump supporters, including the officer. One is reported to be a young woman who was trampled in a stampede. Another apparently had a heart attack in the excitement. Another apparently had a stroke outside the Capitol and may never have entered it. The 4th was Babbitt who was shot and killed by an official. The 5th was a police officer who apparently was struck with a fire extinguisher justifying warrant for murder, but the ME found no evidence of blunt force trauma. Apparently he told fellow officers he was fine and went home, dying 24 hours later.

I have not seen collated reports of injured police officers or officials, but so far this looks like one of the least capable/frightening "armed insurrections" in recorded history.

Not trying to minimize; it still shouldn't have happened and the violent participants absolutely need to be located and prosecuted. Going forward, IMHO there needs to be bipartisan agreement that the Seat of Government is sacred and you don't crowd or force your way in or refuse to leave when asked. Keeping the National Guard outside may be seen as great political theater but they can't stay forever and eventually will be compared to other governments that need protection from the people...

Interestingly, there's one video with the infamous dude dressed as a buffalo up on the throne while an official tries to explain that the premises deserve respect and are sacred to the Republic. Buffalo Boy says he'll come down as soon as he has some good selfies. These sorts of videos confirm there was little if any coordination and certainly no sign of the rampaging armed rabble who almost killed AOC.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
