OK, I agree with some public works and some business/government investment partnerships for infrastructure, and I agree that no child should ever grow up malnourished.....but the first role of government is protecting the rights of citizens. Period. If the government can't even do that correctly, it should just do nothing (as opposed to inventing ways to interfere)

They are honorable ideals but under the current power structures of government they are unrealistic. While the people vote and argue about whose side is best the two-party-one-party state party on.
