I'm working to output a VFP report to an Excel .xlsx file. It will have a very different structure from the VFP report so I can't use any sort of direct output-to-Excel function. Basically, I'll be taking individual report fields and putting their contents into specific cells on specific worksheets in the output workbook.
The report is driven by a moderately complex report data environment. It would be handy to load that data environment without actually running the report, and using it to populate the Excel cells.
- Is there any way to load the report DE without running it? Or, failing that:
- Any other workaround? One idea I had would be to add a dummy field to the report and have its expression call the Excel generation process (presumably within the context of the report DE)
UPDATE: never mind. There's so much spaghetti in the DE and its Init() that I need to hand code a replacement anyways.
