Bundling a simple version with Crucial MX 500 plus their great results was reason for me personally to go "all Crucial" when every machine went SSD here and siblingswhere - after testing the SSD waters with only 1 machine first, as I was afraid of loosing data.

There have been some recent incidents of what could be called "bait & switch" with SSD manufacturers. A new product is released and gets great reviews, but then the manufacturer starts using different controllers or NAND flash, which sometimes reduces performance. They don't change the model number or revision so the consumer has no way to know what has happened.

One way to avoid that is to get a drive from a vertically integrated manufacturer such as Samsung, Crucial/Micron or Hynix: https://www.crucial.com/support/articles-faq-memory/truth-about-memory-manufacturers
