Using the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" principle, you could simply NOT perform the BIOS upgrade and see how things go (and do it only if you must). I only performed the BIOS upgrade on my desktop computer because there were some options that I needed to set in the BIOS weren't working and the BIOS upgraded was needed to correct for that problem. In particular the options had to do with virtualization support -- Windows 7 worked without this, but Windows 10 wanted them. And it was only needed if I wanted to run VMs -- otherwise I could've left things as-is.
