>>>Hi,
>>>
>>>I am considering upgrading my Windows 7 PC (which I use for all my development) to Windows 10.
>>>I bought this Dell PC in 2013, replaced the hard drive to SSD drive some years later. So, as far as the hard disk, I know it has enough for the upgrade.
>>>The PC has 16 GB of RAM.
>>>Processor: Intel Core (TM) i7-3540M CPU @ 3.00 GHz.

>>I looked at the Dell support page for this laptop for all updated drivers and BIOS.
>>The Dell Latitude E6530 (my pc) System BIOS updated in Jan 2019. I downloaded the update file.
>>
>>I have not had any problem since I bought it (in 2013). Question:
>>Should I upgrade the BIOS on this PC when it is Windows 7 or try upgrading to Windows 10 PRO and see if the update finds the BIOS upgrade necessary?

>Using the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" principle, you could simply NOT perform the BIOS upgrade and see how things go (and do it only if you must). I only performed the BIOS upgrade on my desktop computer because there were some options that I needed to set in the BIOS weren't working and the BIOS upgraded was needed to correct for that problem. In particular the options had to do with virtualization support -- Windows 7 worked without this, but Windows 10 wanted them. And it was only needed if I wanted to run VMs -- otherwise I could've left things as-is.
My thinking, exactly. But just in case, I downloaded all drivers and updates from the Dell support site to a flash drive. This way, I will have any of these files available during the Windows 10 upgrade. I decided to do the in-place update. And I will create the Windows 7 image using built-in Windows 7 utility.
I am just waiting for a quiet day to do the upgrade (read: procrastinate :))
Thank you.
