For
my website I use a simple text editor for the main page template (then pass it to Fox to add dates-refreshed to each link), the rest is done in Fox, and ftp'd from it. The content is in memo fields, there are pseudo links in it, the page generator just chops it into paragraphs, wraps that in html tags, replaces the tags with real links, and then sends the pages. Of course, each record has datetimes of last change, which are then compared with the html files, so only newer ones are generated.
I'm doing this for about 20 years, and don't change much. The biggest change was switching from Chilkat to some API oriented ftp client, because the host had changed some rules and it stopped working. And I've added jQuery for few simple effects, nothing much.
I just don't feel like rebuilding the whole site every four years just to follow the latest fashion. I keep it simple, and work on content. As Steven Black would say, „fat free, low impedance“.
