Lately, in order to improve my understanding of spoken French, I watch Netflix movies with French audio and French subtitles. Non-french movies; American or other languages. Experts suggest listening/watching movies with a dubbed French because it is done in a studio instead of being recorded live. So, the articulation should be more clear. And it does make sense.
But there is something strange. The audio does not really match the subtitles. Also, the audio sounds a bit different from the French I am used to when watching french YouTube channels. I wonder if any of French people on this board live in the USA and watch movies with French audio and can clarify this question. I thought - maybe - the audio is done using Canadian french actors and the subtitles are Metropolitan French.
