I am very sorry you lost a friend.
Some years ago I was in Las Vegas, on business (I have a customer there). When leaving the hotel, I was waiting for a shuttle bus to take me to the airport. A guy there, maybe just a few years older than me, maybe more, had a tough time walking and moving his suitcase. So, I asked him if I could help him and carried his suitcase to the shuttle bus. We ended up sitting together (it was the time before C19 when you were not scared of everybody and everything). I told him that I was sorry that he had a physical impediment. He said that that was a minor problem. The major problem, he said, was when one starts losing friends, to the old age, illnesses, etc.
I still remember that conversation. Two years ago I lost my childhood friend. We were in the same school and class since we were 11-12 yo. We were born in the same hospital only a month apart. He introduced me to tennis, which is still my biggest passion. We were very close until the time I immigrated to the USA. A few years later we reconnected, he now lived in Prague.
He died of C19.
