Ok, I see what you're trying to do now. That's much different than hiding the column. There's been several threads about locking columns, but from what I saw of them I never saw an answer.

Rather than rebuilding the whole grid, maybe you could use Ed's idea. As you scroll right, use removeobject (or was that remove column?) to remove the left most scrolling column. As they scroll left, put it back.

I've never tried this, so I don't know how well it would work. It might be slow and jerky. Turning lockscreen on might help.
