VFP is useless in MTS considering it is basically "single user".
One end user waiting for another end user's query (or process)
to end makes the product useless. Perhaps I am missing something
though. I admit that I am not versed in this with VFP as I should be.

If what I wrote above is correct, then the "next version" doesn't
really make a difference. The product that is on the market today
is what counts, not what will be sold\upgrade in Summer '99.
