>>>My point is, there seems to be little reason to use proprietary GUI's at the presentation tier. A browser works just fine, especially when you consider a trend towards thin client and presentation tiers that are nothing but screen-scrapers.

>>The Vancouver Foxpro User Group was fortunate enough to have Ken Levy and Robert Green speak to us this summer. Both stressed the fact that we won't be building as many VFP only apps in the future. HTML front end, VFP middle and whatever on the backend. Hmm... this should start making the VB guys really paranoid. :-)

>I think JVP would back me up on this one: VB is probably better at creating Web Apps then VFP is right now. Again, it is the VFP people who should be paranoid because I doubt many people are jumping on the VFP middle tier band wagon...
As I drift off topic...
I have been learning VB over the last month. Talk about a paranoid bunch. Although their tool is extremely popular there is still perception that it is not a "real tool" (not my opinion). Regularly the VB news groups are attack by the following groups: (note that these are not my opinions but the opinions from the newsgroups)
VC++: better OOP, faster code
VFP: better OOP, faster database, more productive database building
Delphi: stand-alone exe (I think)
Powerbuilder...
After a good flame war, the vb guys are left musing that their tool is "okay".
