>A friend was brought to a CA DevCon at their expense (as a User Group leader) right after they bought Clipper from Nantucket. He came home with the FUNNIEST stories - seems all the attendees except the Clipper programmers were main-frame DB2 programmers who had a more corporate culture/lifestyle. CA was totally appalled at the ClipperHeads standing up in meetings and demanding answers to the 5.0 bugs, and the other attendees couldn't understand why the ClipperHeads weren't wearing suits/ties to every session.

I can understand the culture clash. Clipper guy and gals were about as laid back a group as I have ever met -- sort of Trekkies with a purpose -- so laid back they made California seem positively uptight.

I have no idea where Charlie Wang thought he was going with Clipper/CAVO -- but I suspect he bought it just because Borland bought dBase.
