>>Rich,
>>You HAVE seen the combo at the top of the upper screen that divides your messages by date if there are more than 200 unread and they cover more than one date?
>
>No, I just looked, I don't have this combo. Maybe you only get it if you're a premier member. The only combo at the top of my screen is to choose a forum, with a button next to it saying "Go." I never use this because I'm only ever in the FoxPro forum.

No, I'm just a lowly yellow envelope person, and I get that combo box if I've been away for more than a day or so.

>>Also, click the "Recover last session" check box before you log in, then look at what's available before using the 'yellow note' icon to refresh just your new messages. Before Michel added this checkbox unread messages would disappear everytime you lost your connection, but now you can always pick up where you left off.

>Thanks, I've used that to recover from a lost connection before. It doesn't solve my problem of coming to a new session and not seeing some of the messages which were posted after my last session closed normally.

If you don't scan through all the messages that are in the top paine BEFORE you click on the yellow page (left paine) for new messages, the older messages will seem to be lost. The top paine is a static view, new messages just show up as a count under the yellow page. You'd have to go to the calendar mode to see those old messages, or use the map for a thread you are already on to see them. Not all related messages on a single thread appear consecutive in the top paine. They may be interspersed throughout the topic.

For example, there have been 50 new messages added in the yellow page (left paine) since I started looking this morning. I may have already seen some of those messages in threads that I have followed. After I've viewed all the messages in the top paine, I click the yellow page for new messages, and these now become the top paine. Messages I have viewed appear in gray, while new messages appear in blue. I never seem to lose any messages, unless I click the yellow page before I've scanned the top paine completely. Occasionaly, I'll become impatient when the UT seems really slow and click the yellow page again (or my mouse clicks continuously) before the new messages appear in the top frame. If I do this, I seem to have "lost" the new messages because it refreshes the top paine with the current new messages of 0.
