If you're interested, the improvement I was talking about was really that maybe in future versions, if you set Grid.RowSource="", the columns' ControlSources won't be lost.

Although logically, it seems obvious that they should be lost, now that I think about it. If the grid's no longer linked to the table, why would VFP keep the columns linked to the fields? You're right, I'm sure this "improvement" isn't coming.
