IF I remember we had to set it with the day, month, and year properties. Also, make sure you set the format type to custom. Not sure what you mean by conflicts.

The problem we had, that made us trash such a nice looking control, was the if we cound it to a date field, and did an append blank, the control would tell us the date was out of range. We were unable to put an empty date in the min date field, nor were we able to put null.
