Actually - it works just fine to copy the files to target machine - I do it all the time - have for years - hundreds of users. As long as you get the right stuff in the right place and register that which needs it (usually only ocx) it works perfectly.
I'm not saying it's always the BEST way to do it, but for sites that I have some control over, copying through Windows explorer is a lot quicker than running setups.
