If you don't need 24/7 service you could have a look at www.dynip.com which provides a service for allowing a static address to map to a dynamic address (e.g. your own) when you dial up. This means that you can, for instance, use MS personal webserver on your own machine and run VFP there (i've tried it with Rick's stuff - no problem). I think the service costs about 30 USD per annum.

I've tried it - basically, it's a tiny client program that updates the routing table at www.dynip.com with your current (dynamic) IP address: you choose an address for the world to know you by when you sign up.

There is a free download demo (14 days I think).

I'm not connected with these people in any way, just find it a VERY handy service, especially if I need to demo something across the web.

>>I am interested in finding out some information about using VFP 6.0 with the web. I have a web page on geocities.com (a free web page hosting service) that lists several hundred names and addresses. I have to keep the information updated manually currently.

>(http://www.west-wind.com). He "wrote the book" so to speak on this topic. As far as Geocities goes they do not allow any server side processing (at least for their free hosting service). That rules out using VFP, java, etc. to extract data from a database or to allow updating from a client/server perspective. I'm not aware of any free hosting services that do but I would love to find one. There are plenty of hosting services that are not free that do allow VFP/VB COM, ASP, JAVA, etc. on the server as well as provide a host of ODBC drivers for data access.
