This makes sense because if you have an error, you ought to have to deal with it before doing anything else. And since two modal windows can't exist at once (that's part of the definition of modal, two things can't be the "only active thing"), your modal form has to stop being modal to allow the modal error dialog to appear.

I'll second that! Many times, I've brought a problem to the UT only to find it's something "simple" that I've overlooked... but it's the discussion of the problem that reveals the answer... without that feedback, who knows how long you'd be floundering...

Besides that... making your mistakes known helps the rest of us avoid doing the same thing... most of the time :)
