I use the phone# as a example I going to have name,address, etc and when I have more than one record in the view it will enabled my next & prior push buttons. I have this working I was wondering if this would be the correct way and not run into a performance issue. If I requery on name I would like it to be a name order.

I mean that you go to View Designer and add 'Phone' field to the list of source fields, and it shouldn't change the way you view works. Also, you may revisit 'Update' page of the same designer to include 'Phone' to the list of Updatable fields.
