I have been following Mac Rubel's articles in FPA for months. These articles have been on performance of VFP under different conditions, versions, etc. This month (March), he compared VFP6 on Win95 and Win98. The results were that under Win98, VFP 6 was slightly slower than under the Win95 OS. One of his points was, that while newer releases may be better, faster, etc., the OS continues to get more complex and use more of your computers resources. Therefore, you do not always get increased performance by the software you want to use. Since, VFP is a quantum leap in resource needs than FPD 2.5, it is not surprising that your results are what you observe.

I also assume you are running the VFP query against the FD2.5 table and index. What kind of results do you get if you copy the table to a VFP table and index?
