I think, they had not the time to change the bitmap controls to the native controls when they left the crossplatform support. Besides this they would lose some functionality and flexability.

All I was saying is that it shouldn't be considered to be a major disadvantage that the controls are not Windows native.

I agree that it has some drawback on performance but i realize that when we are about 5 year further, when we are working on 4 Ghz Pentium IV machines whith 32 MB Video cards the difference would not be noticed anymore.

Only thing standing is the visible imcompatability which also could be eliminated bij making your controls yourself.
