>We are using VSS to manage a project with 2 programmers. The other programmer checks out a form, makes a change and checks it back in. I go to VSS and Get the Latest Version of that form. Then build the app. I get an error message saying that VFP cannot update the cursor. I have to check out the form, make a minor change, and save the form. Now when I build the app, it builds without error.

More than likely, one or more of the forms or reports in your VFP project is read-only. The quick and easy way to fix this is to go into VSS, highlight the VSS project where your forms and reports are, and do a Get Latest Version. When it asks you, check the Make Writable checkbox, and proceed. It will make your local copy read/write. Then, continue checking out items as normal, and it will set the local forms to read-only as needed.

BTW, does anyone know if there are any recent books written on Visual SourceSafe? A quick check on Amazon.com shows one book on VSS 5.0, published in June 1997, and listed as not available. A visit to my local Barnes and Noble also turns up a goose egg. Heck, even the online help for VSS is out of date in some places, referring to dialogs which are clearly from an older version of the software.
