I thought this was theoretical since VB and VFP are so different MS could never combine them. I wasn't actually discussing (in reality) anything about VFP being eliminated by MS. I don't believe they will discontinue it, it will just evolve. Just like MSDos Basic evolved into VB, xBase evolved into VFP\Visual dBase, Sybase evolved into MS SQL Server (hehe), etc.
People that began programming in the 60s, 70s, and 80s are glad to see programming languages evolve. Hopefully product evolution means progress.
I'm not worrying, just hoping.
