>Really? You've actually installed it and gotten it to work? I had considered DirectPC but then read several scathing reviews and decided against it( ie
http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/story/story_2607.html ). Also the good bandwidth is only in the downstream direction and I need to transmit at high speed also.
Does anybody have a handle on high-speed internet access from the home that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I've looked at DirectPC and SpeedChoice and found them lacking because of the one-way speed. I've also been waiting for USWest to get their ADSL access off the ground here in Phoenix, but I've been told "available soon" since Oct '97! (Their excuse is I can't get it because my phone lines are fiber-optic, not copper!) I just checked out the SkyBridge and Teledesic web-sites, but they won't be operational until 2002/2003 and they don't even mention cost.
So, just what is available out there?
