Hiya Gonz,
>1) Duplicate existing MS case studies in VFP and disseminate them.
This is an excellent idea and I know it's being pursued.
>2) Be alerted to worthy VFP apps and create press releases on them.
This is somewhat difficult to implement, I think. The definition of what's worthy and what isn't is highly subjective. Further, the press release thing might be tough. Why not pass information on to MS for evaluation?
>3) Guarantee, somehow, the professionalism of VFP developers.
Even tougher. As Ed mentioned, the certification program already exists.
>4) Work WITH MS to evangelize VFP to attract new developers and clients.
How about working with MS to stamp out dis-information about VFP? That should stablize the product's image as a viable and long lasting tool to create solutions. That, if and of itself, should attract new developers.
>See? NO witchhunt...never intended and it would be folly. I have no axe to grind with MS or anything/anyone else. I am concerned that it's been seen that way. The simple version of goals is to make the IT decision makers aware of the quality of the tool and those whp use it. That's IT. That's why I put "the brakes" on after seeing the hysteria whipped up. We don't need this psychosis....but I do think we need to "round the wagons" somewhat.
The recent thread (not the one you started) on this subject, was the problem. There was little or no reference to any of this. My fear is that we were becoming dettached from the goals you outlined.
