I guess it all depends on the moods of the custom agent. I received all 3 books without any charges.
>I bought the whole series using the UT discuont and my VISA card. With exchange (and the hidden service fee when they convert other funds) my VISA bill was for $421.32 (US amount was $273.).

>The first two books, Hacker's Guide and The Essentials, arrived in the same (heavy) box and I got a postal notice of a parcel and picked it up *without* additional charge.
>The third book, Developer's Guide, arrived in an envelope affair but also with a postal notice. This time there were charges - $10.05 total for the Canadianized GST + a 'service fee' ostensibly for collection of that GST. The 'service fee' actually exceeded the GST by a few cents@!#@!#

>Who knows what costs, if any, will be associated with the remaining books?!

>All this to say that your doubling is a bit too pessimistic.

>I generally prefer to let others worry about these things by buying retail here in Canada and letting those costs be hidden in the pricing. But when you want the stuff and it isn't available retail, you have to bite the bullet.

>While I abhor those "service fees", it does work out.
