I think the seminar is aimed at folks who have worked a little with VFP, but need to gain quick understanding at how the product works. I doubt there will be a ton on OOP. There will probably be just enough to show what OO is and how it is implemented. You can go too far with OO in beginning classes. The key is to get up to speed as quickly as possible. This translates into providing value to your company and/or clients. Delivering apps is what counts. You know the old saying, I know how to tell time eventhough I cannot build a watch.

When beginning to learn VFP, or just trying to get a handle on it, it is best to put yourself in the mode of being a tool user. Learn how to use the tool. You have lot's of time to learn how the tool works.

If you need a fundamental understanding of how VFP works, paying $200 to hear Eldor present is a TREMENDOUS value IMHO. Yes, my opinion is biased a bit in that Eldor is both a friend and a colleaque of mine with Application Developers Training Company. Still, I don't give false praise to anybody. Eldor is top notch.

Hope this helps...

>Thanks for the reply, John. What, in your opinion, would be the level of expertise (or lack of it) that this seminar is aimed at? If it's totally a beginner/intro course, that's fine as long as it's an intro to OOP itself and not an intro to the FoxPro language. I've known people who have taken a few "mail-order" courses that were intended to be at an intermediary level and ended up being so elementary as to be totally useless. I don't want to needlessly plunk down an additional $200, that's all.

>>I believe Eldor Gemst is teaching that seminar. Eldor is an excellent teacher, and a great guy to boot.

>>>I've just signed up for DevCon. I understand that there are a few pre-conference seminars (for extra $$$) and I'm debating as to whether or not I should sign up for the "Intro to VFP 6.0" seminar. I've really only been using VFP for about 4-5 months and I'm still trying to grasp some of the elusive OOP concepts, altho I've been a "traditional" programmer for over 20 years. On the other hand, I don't want to attend a seminar that will not tell me anything I don't already know.
>>>
>>>My questions: Does anyone know the content of this seminar and does anyone know who is teaching it?
