Well, I've looked at Jim Booth's article here on the UT and the Microsoft KB article from Jan. 1997 on three-tier.

Both of these papers make clear (Jim explicitly, MS implicitly) that controls are not data-bound. Records must be passed back and forth between middle and front as variables, parameters, or some such.

So my silly question is: What about a browse? How does my middle tier business object return a table of line items for a sales order? Am I missing something?
