Like what? A lot of times direct answers are posted. A lot of times a dialogue is established that eventually leads to a solution. A lot of times the gurus make mistakes. But I have seen those mistakes lead to the real answer more often than not because it asks the original poster to take a new look at the problem.

The UT is not the Oracle at Delphi. It is a community where everyone helps everyone. Personally, I like to jump into things where an answer is germinating as a means of saying "Interesting problem --- let's all play with it until we get it working". Ain't nothing wrong with that approach!

I took several teaching classes years ago when I was a night instructor on computer topics. I was told there were three main phases of teaching: Directive, cooperative, and consultative. Directive was to be moved out of FAST because when you tell someone precisely what to do, they don't learn it.

This is a unique online community: Play nice. I think you owe an apology to Craig and then we'll all forget about this and move on.
