>>>Is it true that the state of California does not allow smoking in bars anymore? This is like not allowing peeing in toilets IMHO. Is this true?

>>Nasty Rumor? This sounds like Heaven to me. I have no aversion to smokers, but I do have an aversion to wreaking like smoke after being in a bar for 15 minutes.

>But Erick, maybe non-smokers are the most, so non smoking bars will be a good business. Why do you need a law for that? And, if someone opens a bar stating clearly that it's for smokers only ("the smokers bar"), why the law should punish him?

Of course, you are right. This is the best way. I think what happens on he real world though is that maybe one out of 3 people smoke in bars. So if I opened a bar that didn't allow smoking, I am automatically losing 1/3 of my customers. One owuld hope that the number of additional customers that the bar would attract by its no smoking feature would more than make up for the lack of smokers, but maybe no bar owner wants to be that adventurous.

Maybe the best way is to require that bars that allow smoking implement extensive ventilation to minimize the second-hand smoke. I for one, would spend more time in bars hanging out if I didn't have to put up with stinging eyes and wreaking clothes and hair.
