I have found, with the few _FFC classes that I have used/played with, that they are pretty stand alone. As you say, the all require _BASE since that is the first level subclass of all base classes. However, what I tend to do, and will probably continue doing, is create the class in my own hierachy and copy the code from _FFC... or, I redefine the classes in the _FFC to use the first level subclasses provided in Codebook, MM or VFE, the three frameworks that I use.
