Hi Chen,

<< text deleted >>

>But I did notice that you said that when you set a default value on the server, your problem go away. The problem goes away with remote view or SPT? If you have default text and you can use remote view without problem, I would say my situation is worse than yours.

<< rest of text deleted>>

To clarify, the problem is ... as you state it. With a default value on the text field of '', then SPT can insert a record quickly, as expected, including sending contents to the text field.

However, the remote view still has the problem even with the default of ''

As I mentioned, the 3rd party software vendor's C++ (Microsoft) app (that we purchased) does not show the symptom on the same w/s and odbc connection. So, I am going to call them to see if they also are doing something 'tricky' to get around the problem.

I'm just wondering if this problem is general to SQL server, or whether it is that VFP has tried the insert in a fashion that causes the SQL server to act in this fashion.

That fact that it is not being reported back as a general problem by a lot of people also concerns me. Is there something in my SQL servers (and yours) that is not config'd right to allow this to function correctly? Otherwise, more people would be aware of the situation?

What do you think?

Thx, again, for your input and assistance.

A blessing on you.

Scott :-)
