John,
According to a very brief statement in the new book "Inside SQL Server 7.0" from MS Press (Soukup/Delaney), on NT it employs all of the features of NT to compliment its security and to simplify it, while for Win9x it exclusively relies on its own built-in security. So, for Win95/98 it is necessary, for instance, to supply an ID and password on each connection.
I presume that MSDE would operate similarly.
Cheers,

>SQL Server has two types of security, I forget the exact terms, one where SQL Server handles it and another where it's reliant on NT security (integrated security). I'm interpreting this to mean that MSDE only supports integrated, which for the most part is fine as this is what most people use anyway.
