>>>>We have a more bearable 28 C (82 F) today with low humidity. That's only because we got wolloped with a storm yesterday that tore the roof and second floor off a strip mall.

>>>We hit about 101(F) in Hampton, VA today. With the humidity it feels like 107(F). I can't tell the difference. 8^)

>>>Got room for one more up there in Canada?

>>Don't pack your bags yet. We've been known to hit 40+ C (104+ F) more than once in the summer. And on the other extreme we've been known to hit, especially in the praries, -40 C with the wind chill (-40 in F as well).

>Being from Detroit, Michigan I can usually tolerate the variations in temperature (tho you cna keep the -40 stuff!). It's the humidity here I can't take.

>Assuming weather patterns haven't changed _drastically_ in 400 years, it's a wonder that the first European settlements were in this area. Don't know why they would have thought it better than anything in the Old World... And if the weather patterns *have* changed that much... well, frankly, I'm scared!

I think this area is relatively a straight line and they settled where they landed. Plus I bet they didn't really grasp the size of North America. I still have relatives in England that think Halifax or Vancouver is just a day trip from Toronto and don't believe me when I tell them you could fit 4-5 England's in Ontario alone :-)
