Jim,

Time for me to pipe in here.

First, your statement about MS presenting a list of possible future enhancements. No developer in their right mind would ever publish such a list. For several reasons, not to mention the outroar if the feature doesn't make it for some reason, competitive advantage, among others.

Second, your comment about SP3 increasing index speed. Kudos to the folks at MS for making the time to study index speed. If they don't have time to write it down big deal. Is index speed going to change the way I develop? I don't think so. Not to mention that I in my job as a developer and supporter of end users, one of my biggest problems is when I go out of my way to do something I think is good, such as spending my time to make something better, and then have someone complain about it.

Third, what's the big deal about future enhancements anyways?????? VFP does what I need it to do....end of story. If I reach a point where it no longer
does what I want to do, it's time to move on. End of story.

PF

>A damned good start would be an accessible list of Wishes Submitted, Wishes Acknowledged (but not yet 'judged'), Wishes Disregarded, Wishes Still to be *possibly* included and wishes being included in some future release (though still subject disregard if circumstances warrant) .>

>Another thing would be more details of what actually got into a SP and some additional background to permit maximum exploitation. For instance, it was observed (and later acknowledged by Mr. Brown of MS) that (re)INDEX had been 'improved'. It would be nice to learn that "officially" as well as to learn under just what circumstances the improvement(s) take effect.

>>This past February Robert Green spoke at my user group. He did not have a specific topic, but instead asked "What are we doing wrong and what can we do to improve it?" I was the only MVP there. I've seen some of those things alredy implemented. Many of the changes at DevCon this year, such as more speakers, more intro type sessions is a direct result of input from last year. This sure looks to me like people are listening to the average VFP user.
