>In tools|options projects tab, specify your source control (VSS) provider. Then, whenever you create a project, it will automatically link to VSS.

Nigel,
this is the way I used to use it, the problem is VSS uses the folder you created the project in as the "working folder" which means the only copies of your files are stored internally by VSS.
