Some telemarketing site have automatic dialer that will sort out fax, modem, busy lines, answering machine and wrong numbers. They will transfer the call to a real person only when it detect a live person on the other end. If you ever had to say "Hello" twice or experienced a delay before someone start to talk back on a telemarketing call, then you know that they had a predictive dialer.
>Most of the time, the guy who calls initially is a random telemarketer. They get paid for each lead given to a salesman, so it costs the LD carrier something. The guy who calls back is normally a sales droid of some sort being paid on commission...and for them, time == money < beg >
