Hi Mike,
In my opinion, college should teach you how to learn. Much of the specifics I learned in college, BASIC, Pascal, COBOL, ... are no longer directly related to my job. However, digging in to manuals, trying one thing after another until it worked, not being afraid to ask for help; those are still useful every day.
I have a BA degree (CS Major, Math and Business Minor) from a small liberal arts college (Concordia Universiy, River Forest) and have been happy with the "rounded" approach to education. Depending on the program, if it only focuses on the "tech" or "business" side, you can miss out on the general knowledge that can help you to succeed in a particular industry.
My sister went to ISU (in horticulture) and loved it. What that says about their IS program I don't know. < BG >
