There was a recent article in FoxPro Advisorr that explained why indexes on Deleted() are not helpful. Your gfp's were most likely memory related as the deleted() index causes fox to stress memory heavily. Be carefull in your conclusion, removing the deleted index may only be concealing the real problem from you until something else stresses memory.
