>>>Is money the only factor through which one can contribute here ??? Currently off course my company is paying for my membership but say if I’m independtly working and not in a financial position to pay for PUTM, Does that means if I don’t pay I’m not contributing anything…

>>It's the only one that makes it
feasible to let Michel continue to modify the code. He has to make a living, and UT has to pay for any enhancements to the code base, or he's got to find other work to pay his personal bills. And unless Michel is fabulously wealthy and willing to bleed away his personal funds, if UT ends up taking food out of his mouth, I'm afraid that we'd have to find somewhere other than UT to go.

I'm not forcing - I'm suggesting that you're asking for lots of mods, and it's time to help pitch in with the cost of defraying the costs. I'm not in favor of doing away with Basic Membership, but I do think that your expectations of what is reasonable as far as what things Michel should extend to basic members is excessive. I'd be pleased if Michel added many of the requested features as benefits of PUTM, giving a greater incentive to PUTM membership.
>>If you're implying that responding to messages and putting up files should be more than adequate compensation, realize, Michel can't live on electrons. And there are plenty of people who are at least as active on the UT as yourself that feel that there's a need to contribute towards keeping UT up and running.

So Michel should pay me, Eric Moore, Bruce Campbell, Evan Delay and others for our participation? I'm just naming a few PUTMs who make major contributions of their time and knowledge, and pay towards the cost of keeping the UT up and running.
If you feel you deserve compensation for the breadth and depth of your knowledge, do teleconsulting, or write a book, get it published, and see what happens. There are some books out there that are worth infinitely more than their cost - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend someone shell out the money for
Hacker's Guide to VFP6, or
Effective Techniques for Development in Visual FoxPro 6.0, and the authors do contribute considerably to the VFP community, including here on UT.
If you feel that your files are unique and you deserve to be coimpensated for their content, realease them as commercial products or shareware.

No, But I think that Michel should be entitled to say "I'm not going to make these changes because I don't generate enough money to turn down other work." At which point, I'm sure you'll happily continue not paying a PUTM fee, and point out how evil and greedy Michel is, because he puts his day to day existance above the demands of people who aren't willing to make UT pay for the changes they'd like to see.
