The main highway from LAX to Costa Mesa is the 405. It's one of the worse in the entire US. I've heard time estimates from my place to Costa Mesa of 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. I live about 45 minutes from LAX. So that leaves you almost 2 hrs. The Doubletree might have a shuttle.

I'm going to call them later cause I still haven't made room reservations. I'll ask about shuttles.
