I found this thread very interesting. I also have a BS in computer science. I graduated last year. When I got this job I did not know any type of FoxPro at all. I did have experience in VB. So I was able to pick up VFP very quickly, it was a very easy language.

I know I am going to take some heat for saying this but here goes. VFP has allowed me to develop applications fairly quickly but has posed very little challenge. During my computer science education I enjoyed the challenge of all the other languages. For foxpro development a computer science degree maybe overkill because there is so much I learned in computer science that I know I will never use if I stay in this position. Perhaps it is just the company I work for? I dunno as I said I just graduated last year and don't have too much experience in the working world yet.

Computer Science will help any developer though no matter what aspect of the industry you are working in. CS teaches you all the steps in the life span of a program/project. This is one aspect of my degree that I have definitely used, the Software Engineering aspect. I went to Canisius College in Buffalo. With a BS there I was required to take several physics and math courses. I think 10 combined. I am not sure if this is true else where. These are the aspects of my degree that I wish I was able to use more fully. Computer Science is more geared toward the theoritical but gives us the ability to develop any type of software in any language.

WellI guess that is my 2 cents.
