This seems related to what Ed suggested, but I need a little more explanation of exactly how this would be accomplished. One thing I may not have made clear is that I take advantage of the fact that the dot matrix printer is capable of printing bit-mapped characters (I use fonts which I know are not precanned in the printer), so I'm not sure how well a generic text print driver will help me. It's worth a try though...still need some help from you on specifics of what you mean by a 'generic text print driver'.
