We have the same setup, only a full T1 between the offices (768k cir). And it is very sssslllloooowww. Largest table file size is 27megs (and growing). That file (plus dozens of others) get dragged down the pipe about 30 times a day :(
We are courrently converting over to a vfp6.0 app and we be using SQL server as a backend.
Before the T1 we used PCAnywhere to connect 1 machine in the remote office to a machine in the main office. It was very speedy, but only 1 user could use it at a time.
