>>Greetings!
>>
>>I developed a personnel system in FPW26 some years ago for county government while I was employed there. It maintained such things as employee information, time cards, time away, and provided canned and custom reports, with various levels of security.
>>
>>With the experience I gained, and the features I designed, I'm thinking about bringing it up to Visual FoxPro standards and making it available to small businesses, in which I could customize it to their needs if necessary. Before going too far, I'm wondering if there is even a market for such a thing.
>>
>>I've searched the web a found a few other systems, and they appear to be quite good, and quite expensive, with features that many businesses might never need. I'm aware that there are a number of high-end and low-end systems that I can't find, too.
>>
>>What I'd like to know is whether any of you think there is a small business need for a basic system to maintain employee information. I'd appreciate any input.
>>
>>Thanks!

>I believe there's a need. My last employer needed a personnel system that would do things like track personel and sick and vacation days as well as how many the days the employee had earned. The business rules got way out of hand making the system terribly complex. The problems that we had with the stuff on the market is that it was too expensive, didn't have enough features and that it wasn't easily extensible. I believe there's a market for a low cost, robust personnel system, that is fairly extensible, but this is only from my experience.

Thanks for the reply, Dan! The system I designed was set up in a way to make the business rules database-driven, making it easy for the end-user to customize the formulas, especially whenever they changed. I appreciate your taking the time to write.

Michael
