as I've just said to Nancy, I found these work - in the sense that I now get constant display of the relevant values. However, when I tried to set a breakpoint on them, I got some very odd behaviour. As the original problem then spontaneously fixed itself I haven't needed to pursue it. No doubt I'll be back for more when I need it again.
